Growing Your Business

First, let me start by asking you to check out my Getting Started and Build A Website pages.

Ok, now back to business or growing your business that is.

I’m not really going to get too specific here in this piece. Most of the information I provide on growing your business will come from the articles I post and the drop down menus on this subject.

But I do want to cover a couple things that I believe are very important.

So you’ve chosen a niche and built your website, now what?

Well, there are a thousand things you can do to grow your business.

  • Improve SEO
  • Use PPC advertising
  • Google AdWords
  • Email marketing
  • Write more content
  • Social media marketing
  • Guest blogging
  • Research better keywords

The list goes on and on and like I said, I’ll be covering lots of these via articles in the future, but…..

Where Should Your Focus Be When Growing Your Business?

Here are a few things you should focus on.

  • The places where you will have the biggest impact are the areas in which you are currently the worst. For example, You can’t just be good at getting traffic to your website. You have to turn that traffic into sales, then turn those sales into repeat sales. If you under perform in any one of these areas, your business will not grow.  Read books and articles on this subject. Take some courses if you have to.
  • Slow and steady is a great thing. A tomato plant doesn’t just pop out tomatoes right away. It slowly grows and when it’s strong enough, it produces delicious tomatoes. What I’m saying here is to do a little bit everyday. Don’t overwhelm yourself. Find a pace that works for you and stick to it. Do that and within a few months, you’ll start seeing results.
  • No matter what, never ever give up. There are so many scams on the internet promising thousands of dollars the first month. That is a flat out lie. Like a brick and mortar business, your online business is going to take time and hard work. Even if it takes six months to see results, keep doing the work everyday. If you’re doing it right, you will see results.

Take the following steps and just like that, you will be on your way to success.

  1. Build your own website at no cost at
  2. Sign up for your free account
  3. Get not one but two websites and training like none other.

Go to the top menu and check out the TRAINING section. There you can find training on different aspects of marketing. I’ll be posting new training periodically.

That’s it! Now you’re on your way to having a successful online business.

Let me know if you need any help.

  1. Andy,
I read your areas to focus on and I do agree with you, start with your weak points, mine is getting enough post during the week. I have not been consistent so far.
I have used some of your ideas to grow my business, have not used the ones that cost any money, writing, great keywords and social media have been what I have used so far. I think the next step I will start is building a list for E-Mail marketing. I think this step will help in Growing my Business.

    1. You’re right John, your email list is very powerful tool. They’ve already given you their contact information so you’ve already started a relationship with them. Now you have to convert them to sales.

Now back to the weak point you mentioned about getting enough points during the week. Everyone is different. It all depends on what you’re comfortable with. Check out this post I did in Wealthy Affiliate, Maybe it will help.

  2. Hello there
Im new to online marketing and was looking for ways to increase traffic when i found your site.
you have explained things so well that even a newbie like myself could understand and follow, thanks for that.
You are right as starters we do not have money to invest online, thanks for showing where one can build a website for free.
Somethig l did not understand, why would anyone need 2 websites? as a starter, i believe 1 website is enough.what do you say?

    1. Thanks for the feedback roamy. You’re right, one website is all you need when starting out. But what if you were interested in more than one niche? If they don’t relate to each other, then you’d want to build website for the other. Take me for example. I have two websites. This website focuses on helping people starting and growing their business and how Wealthy Affiliate can do that. I’m also a Social Media Manager. My other website focuses on that. Of course I don’t recommend you have two websites as a beginner, that would be too overwhelming. Once you master one niche, feel free to move another. I hope this answers your question.

  3. So far it’s been a little over 3 months creating my website. I haven’t made any sales yet but the advice I heard is don’t focus on it. Then I’m thinking there are other folks already made sales within 3 months, so am I being too passive about this? My visitors went from around 0-10 to 50 to 60 after 3 month hit. So am I doing alright?

  4. Hi there.Building an online business require persistence and you have to enjoy what you are doing. It is simply not possible to expect results over night. I have my businesss for 5 months now without a single penny coming in. that’s when most people give up. However, I knew since the start that it takes a long time. It can be 1 or 2 years to see results. That’s ok, I think it’s worth it and it keeps growing. Learning new things and applying day-by-day, we gonna get there.

Thanks for your great article. It inspired me to keep moving.

  5. I have always desired my own online business, so thanks very much for pointing me down the right path to get started and create my own website.

There certainly are many methods to growing an online business, and all sound very exciting 🙂

Thank You for sharing the the main things for me to focus on as I build my business, and I have noted them down!

  6. I completely agree with the three tips that you give for growing your business. Success is so close for some people but they give up before they really hit their stride. I think the hard part is sticking with it even when everything is going against you but if you stick with it long enough then it is bound to turn to your favor. What has been your most successful thing you have implemented in your website that has provided you with the best results?

    1. Thanks for the feedback Nate. Posting good, helpful content has been a big help. It has helped me build a responsive email list. Building trust with your subscribers is very important.
