Are You Motivated?

Are You Motivated? We all lose steam sometimes, even the most successful ones do. When that happens, we waste our time in things that don’t matter and neglect what does. Personal motivation is key to staying on task.

With that in mind…..

  • Keep focusing on your goals. You should have short term and long term goals. Keep them handy and read them regularly to keep you focused and motivated.
  • Keep your tasks manageable, break them down if you have to. Sometimes, large tasks can seem overwhelming and breaking them down to smaller tasks can give you a sense of accomplishment, increasing your motivation.
  • Track your progress. Check your progress throughout the week to make sure you are keeping up with your goals. This will let you know where you are excelling and where you are lacking.
  • Reward yourself when achieving a goal. You worked hard to achieve that goal, treat yourself. Take a friend out for lunch, take your wife out on a date, go to a movie, etc.
  • Take breaks. Feeling overwhelmed? Feeling burned out? Take a breather. Read a book, have a cup of coffee or maybe it’s time to have some lunch. Sometimes, walking away and getting your thoughts together will help.
  • Don’t be hard on yourself, learn from your mistakes. We all make mistakes or fall short sometimes. If you don’t meet your goals this week, learn from it. Try to work harder next week in completing your goals then go back and finished your missed work. Don’t dwell on your failures, use it as motivation to work harder.
  • Read motivational stories. Read quotes, success story books, sport movies are always great. We all need inspiration sometimes. Looking at others’ success is motivational.
  • Eliminate distractions. Procrastination is a killer. Identify the things that are causing it and move away from it.

These are just a few things you can do to stay motivated.

  1. I love your website, and such a timely post, when I need much encouragement to pursue my dream.
Creating and maintaining website is a hard work, and ‘promoting via social media’, if not done smartly, can turn into a big time waster.
I’m trying to find the balance between creating and promoting content. I tend to be less motivated when it come to promoting my content. But I know that I need to do it! Do you have any tips on that?

    1. There’s a lot of things you can do to promote your content. Once I post an article, I share it on FB, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Pinterest. You have article submission website, social bookmarking websites, I could go on. As a matter of fact, you just gave me my next article idea lol. Thanks!!

  2. Hello

Staying motivated can be very difficult at times. For me it is procrastination. If you allow that one to go on for too long, then before you know it, the to-do list is overwhelming.

The only last thing I would add is to never give up before you begin to reap all the benefits of your hard work. I think sometimes it just seems easier to quit then to stay motivated and keep pressing on.

Thank you for sharing. We all need to be reminded of this from time to time :).

    1. Thanks for the feedback Kellie. You’re right about not giving up. Most don’t realize that it takes time to grow a business.

  3. Being and staying motivated is one of the more challenging things in life. People tend to get distracted by things sometimes out of their control or by minor obstacles that result in a loss of focus and thus not considering the bigger picture. By staying focused on the goals we are able to navigate easily through obstacles that easily distract us.
I agree with you on breaking down tasks into manageable pieces is key to realising the success of the greater goal.
